Let the Historic Tamarack Lodge’s beautiful location provide you with a setting for all your needs. You’ll be sure to enjoy the charm, uniqueness and individual attention at a fraction of the rates in the big cities!

Weddings at the Historic Tamarack Lodge and Cabins are always a special event. Situated in a spectacular scenic mountain valley in the midst of the Montana Rockies our environment is a naturally romantic backdrop, and it gives us great pleasure to be able to assist you in creating a day to remember for you and your guests.
We pride ourselves on our hospitality and our ability to deliver a family atmosphere for your special day. Our 100 year old lodge offers the perfect intimate setting for the exchange of vows surrounded by close family and friends. For larger groups, an outdoor gazebo lends itself perfectly to the beauty of the Flathead National Forest outside our backdoor. Enjoy a feast of delights beneath a canopied tent installed amongst the wildflowers of our back yard, and follow it up with an evening of celebration, dancing with loved ones, to the tunes of local musicians, beneath the stars of a crystal clear Montana sky. When the night is over the classic ambiance and modern facilities of our accommodation will ensure a comfortable night’s sleep followed by a continental breakfast in the Main Lodge in the morning.

Don’t forget to explore the area – bike rentals are available all year round at the lodge, snowmobiles, snow shoes and skiing are available during snow season. In the Summer months, the Going to the Sun road in Glacier National Park is a must-do, and for those last-minute wedding supplies and souvenirs there are big name stores and boutique shopping available nearby.

Our services include liaising with select local businesses in order to provide you with the best quality services and pricing for all your requirements, from necessary equipment rental to caterers and musicians.

The interior of the lodge, with its lodge-pole pine, stone fireplace and woodburner provides a classic ambience which, when combined with our modern amenties (such as high-speed wireless internet)offers the complete package to meet your corporate needs.  Let us arrange snowmobile rental and evening entertainment courtesy of grammy-nominated singer Brad Lee and let the snowy peaks of the Rocky Mountains inspire your corporation to achieve new heights.

Our outdoor pavilion, spacious recreation areas and amenities that include a horsehoe pit, volleyball net, a firepit and an abundance of grills provide a fun-filled setting for your family reunion or group get-together.  Take a short hike to the beaver ponds behind our property (suitable for all the family), meet our llamas, Star and Snow, and enjoy spending time together under the big Montana sky.

Montana Snowmobiling Vacations

December 10th, 2012 by teresa

Save $$$ off your Winter activities when you book with us and Swan Mountain Outfitters.

There are approximately 200 miles of groomed trails and nearly 2000 miles of National Forest Service roads to take you through our snowmobiling winter wonderland! Enjoy pristine alpine forests, breathtaking ridges and powder-filled bowls.

Enjoy low rates and comfortable accommodation with our year-round private cabins and 100 year old lodge.

Take your snowmobile direct from the lodge or trailer up to one of the many local trailheads or lakes.  Regardless of the type of riding you’re looking for, the Flathead Valley has the right place for your pleasure.  From relaxed trail rides to extreme riding this area is surrounded with opportunities for adventure.

  • Canyon Creek Snowmobiling Located on the North Fork of the Flathead River Drainage, the Canyon Creek trail accesses more than 80 miles of groomed trail and abundant mountain riding. The trailhead starts five miles north of Columbia Falls on F.S. road 316. The trail leads to Whitefish Mountain Resort on Big Mountain where you can take a break at the Summit House. Another option is to continue past Big Mountain to Upper Whitefish Lake or go to Kimmerly Basin, a great place for some snow play along the route.
  • Desert Mountain Snowmobiling Known as one of the most spectacular trails in Northwest Montana (at the closest to our Glacier National Park Cabin Rentals!), the Desert Mountain trail allows access to the summit of Desert Mountain overlooking Glacier National Park, Hungry Horse Reservoir and the great Bear Wilderness. From this trailhead you may also ride an ungroomed trail along the east shore of Hungry Horse Reservoir, great for wilderness scenery and hill climbing. About 35 miles.
  • Olney/Red Meadow Snowmobiling  Close to Whitefish and just off Hwy. 93, the Olney trail travels through open-field play terrain. The groomed trail connects to Upper Whitefish Lake trail and Stryker trail. This is one of the largest loops you can take in one day. The route winds up from Olney over Werner Peak at 7100 ft. This trail will also lead you to Whitefish Mountain Resort and down to the Canyon Creek trailhead in Columbia Falls.
  • Upper Whitefish Lake Snowmobiling This trail connects to the trails from Olney and Mount Marston. This is a 50 mile tour through the deep woods of the Whitefish Mountain Range. Upper Whitefish Lake offers groomed trails as well as unlimited mountain climbing and play in open meadows. It takes about 1 hour to get to Upper Whitefish Lake from the Upper Whitefish Lake trailhead or take the groomed trail to the East and head up to Werner Park.
  • Crane Mountain Snowmobiling Just outside Bigfork, you’ll find 38 miles of groomed trail riding and unlimited play terrain in mountain meadows and old logging clear cuts. These trails offer views of Flathead Lake, the Swan Mountains and the Mission Mountains. More than 100 miles of ungroomed logging roads. Reach the Crane Mountain trail system from Hwy. 209, six miles south of Bigfork, or from Hwy. 83, two miles south of Swan Lake.
